The Coconut Creek Spring Craft Festival at the Promenade

March 10^th & 11^th, 2012

Saturday & Sunday 10am – 5pm

We are excited to return to The Promenade at Coconut Creek, an open air high-end shopping and dining experience. Coconut Creek is located north of Coral Springs and just South of wealthy Boca Raton. The upscale streets of the Promenade provide us with a fabulous venue to exhibit your fine crafts. The location at the busy intersection of Wiles and Lyons Road will give us ample exposure, adding to our already large media plan. Art and craft enthusiasts will enjoy this fun, family friendly festival, while experiencing Coconut Creek’s upscale retail and dining destination. We moved the location from Lauderdale by the Sea after we were forced to relocate that show to a less than ideal location, we then decided to move the show to Promenade at Coconut Creek to ensure another amazing American Craft Endeavors Festival. We look forward to seeing our Fine Crafters at the Coconut Creek Spring Craft Festival at the Promenade. QR Codes

A QR Code stands for Quick Response, you might have seen them popping up in stores and magazines. I saw this one in Michael’s. A QR Code is a barcode that is read by mobile phones that have downloaded a reader app. The QR code actually started as a way to quickly track automotive parts but has spread in popularity because of the quick way it can share a lot of information. They are in common use in Japan and Europe and are now taking hold in the USA. Our goal at Howard Alan Events is to have every artist hang a laminated card in their booth with their QR code posted so patrons with smart phones can have your website with the click of their phone. Business cards and flyers can get lost but with the QR reader you are now on their phone, they can find you when they are ready to purchase a piece. It is very easy to get a code, go to this website, www.qrstuff.com, enter your website address and click download. You can then print out your code, it will look like this.

Susan G Komen Coconut Point Shopping Spree Giveaway a Success!

Howard Alan Events would like to personally thank the artists who have donated to our Susan G Komen Coconut Point Shopping Spree Giveaway. We knew our artists had big hearts but we were blown away by the generous and giving nature you have shown. The popularity of our Art Festivals gives us the unique opportunity to reach so many people and to really make a difference. To date we have raised over $20,000 for this important cause and there are still donations coming in! All proceeds from the Shopping Spree Giveaway benefit Susan G Komen SWFL Breast Cancer Research. The drawing will take place at the Coconut Point Art Festival, February 11^th and 12^th, 2012. Delray Beach Festival of the Arts, Artist Spotlight: Jeanne Melillo

Jeanne Melillo has been designing and handcrafting her table top pieces for 11 years. Her work has been represented in art galleries, fine home stores and art shows throughout the United States. Howard Alan Events is excited that Jeanne will be joining us at the 23rd Annual Downtown Delray Beach Festival of the Arts this weekend (January 21st & 22nd, 2012).

Starting with table runners and then expanding her line to include place mats, coordinating napkins, napkin rings and coasters. Everything is handmade with care and scrupulous attention to detail. Her designs vary in look and feel from bold and dramatic,to light and whimsical. She searches out eclectic findings and natural elements to create unique designs that have the ability to transform their environment. Jeanne enjoys creating work that grows from a traditional form and challenges people visually by it’s contemporary interpretation.

The Difference Between a Facebook Profile & Fan Page

We have had quite a few questions and concerns from our artists about the differences between a Facebook Profile Page and a Facebook Fan Page. It’s important to know the difference – because they can be used to market your artwork and grow your business!

Here are the details about a Facebook Profile Page:

This is for individual users and is created by visiting Facebook and signing up for an account. You’re putting your “Face” on Facebook. It’s your name, picture, video of your kids, etc. Posting updates in your life makes it easy for you to connect with your friends! You’re posting your status updates, videos, pictures, sending messages, writing on walls, and socializing within Facebook. A Facebook profile should NOT be used as your business page.

Here are the details about a Facebook Fan Page:

Once you create a Facebook profile you can use that account to create a Facebook Business Fan Page for your business. This is where you can post business information: events, videos, photos, specials, promos — and encourage your fans to ‘like’ you, post testimonials and help spread the word about your business stories.

First, we would like to introduce to you Bunny & John Switzenberg. Bunny & John keep their 21 hives at Bunny’s sister, Sandy and brother-in-law, Francis’ 250 acre farm in Georgetown, Delaware. Patti Van Tonder : Hair Accessories

Next, we would like to introduce to you Patti Van Tonder. Patti is dedicated to producing the most beautiful and durable pieces of hair jewelry for the most beautiful women of the world. It’s the only hair accessory that will stay in every hair type! You can learn more about Patti’s work HERE.

Candy Wilson : Mats & Frames

The final crafter we would like to introduce to you is Candy Wilson. Candy was a professional artist who worked part-time as a framer. Later, this led to a full-blown business where Candy went to art and craft festivals to sell the custom frames and mats. They have a unique selection that you can see HERE.

22nd Annual Indialantic Art Festival (January 21st & 22nd, 2012)

This weekend (January 21st & 22nd, 2012), Howard Alan Events is proud to present 22nd Annual Indialantic Art Festival in Melbourne, Florida.

The Indialantic Art Festival, hosted by the city of Indialantic, features the finest artists in the country including top local talent for a truly eclectic exhibit of quality original art. Prices are set to suit all budgets and range from $25 hand-designed earrings to $30,000 metal sculptures. This popular high-end outdoor festival will take place at Nance Park, located directly on the ocean and AIA.

Alina Eydel : Acrylic

First, we would like to introduce to you Alina Eydel. Rather than Alina using traditional mosaics, she gives her figurative, acrylic-on-canvas paintings a modern and unique twist, incorporating precious and semi-precious materials, which already imply treasure in themselves, and gluing and varnishing glass beads, Swarovsky crystals, fresh-water pearls, corals & turquoise. The result is spectacular. Each paintings shimmers like a sea of gem stones. You can see more of her work HERE.

Vicky Lilavois : Jewelry

Next, we would like to introduce to you Vicky Lilavois. Vicky enjoys creating exciting visual effects in her jewelry. She uses polymer clay because there are many ways it can be blended and manipulated. Polymer clay is not really a clay. It is a polymer compound of fine particles of polyvinyl chloride suspended in a plasticizer. You can learn more about this artist HERE.

Gregory Ricciardiello : Pottery

The final artist we would like to share with you today is Gregory Ricciardiello. Gregory hand-makes each piece of pottery. The work is either thrown on a potters wheel or hand constructed out of slabs and coils. As you can see – Gregory’s hard work pays off! His work is beautiful! This weekend (January 21st & 22nd, 2012), Howard Alan Events is proud to present 23rd Annual Downtown Delray Beach Festival of the Arts in Delray Beach, Florida.

Delray Beach’s most popular art affair returns January 21 & 22, 2012 featuring a wide array of fine art by the nation’s top artists. The Downtown Delray Beach Festival of the Arts consistently ranked as one of the best art events in the U.S. by Sunshine Artist Magazine appeals to locals and tourists alike. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority.

Renee Dinauer : Wood Sculpture

The first artist we would like to introduce to you is Renee Dinauer. Renee has been creating a plethora of unique, freeform wall and free hanging sculpture formed of steam-bent hardwoods since 1990. Her greatest interest involves the study of surfaces, especially those alluding to a four-dimensional topological source. You can view more of her work HERE.

Harry Jarman : Paintings

Next, we would like to introduce to you Harry Jarman. Harry is a well-known Southern realist who paints in oil with a soft touch and richness of color that portrays great feeling and knowledge. Harry’s subjects range from still lifes and landscapes to wildlife and seascapes. Harry’s work can be found in numerous galleries and shops in North Carolina. His work is exceptional! Jeffrey McDonald : Photography

The final artist we are going to share with you today is Jeffrey McDonald. Jeffrey has the ability to capture an image and then transform it into a masterpiece. As you can see from the picture above, his work is absolutely gorgeous! We do not have a website for Jeffrey – so you will have to stop by his booth at the show to see more of his work!
