What Are You Doing This Labor Day Weekend?

Standard

Are you going to be on the West Coast of Florida this Labor Day Weekend? We have the perfect event for you to attend! The 2nd Annual Downtown Venice Labor Day Craft Festival will be held this weekend on September 4th & 5th!

I have three terrific crafters that will be in attendance this weekend. I would love to share them with you! Our first crafter I would like to introduce to you is…

Britney Ajrab: Baby Clothing

Britney Ajrab! Britney hand-makes beautiful baby clothing. Pictured above is a monogrammed pillowcase dress. The name of this dress is “Cup Kate”, which I thought was very clever and creative! If you would like to see more of this crafter’s products, check out her website HERE.

Our 2nd crafter is…

Gissell & William Barbour: Jewelry

Gissell & William Barbour! This duo hand-crafts one-of-a-kind jewelry. They are the inventors of wire crafted ear pins and ear cuffs. Several years ago, I actually bought a pair of their earring cuffs. (This was before I started working for Howard Alan Events.) I must say that I received tons of compliments on them! If you would like to read more about Gissell & William’s unique jewelry, click HERE.

The third artist I would like to share with you is…

Gail Clark: Pens

Gail Clark! Gail creates hand-made beaded pens. You can choose from her array of designs, or you can create your own! This started out as a hobby for Gail because she loves pens. If you would like to read more about Gail and shop around online for some nifty pens, click HERE.

Now that you have a head-start of what to expect this weekend, I would like to give you some additional information about the craft festival.

Something We Can Never Say Enough!

Standard

What makes Howard Alan Events unique is that we truly care about our artists. We consider our artists family. Many of our artists have been with us since the very beginning. This is something we are very proud of! With that being said, we can never say thank you enough to each and every one of our artists who participate in all of our shows.

With summer coming to and end, we are looking forward to the end of 2010 and the beginning of 2011. We have so much excitement coming up! First, we have the Art in the Village Part II (Cleveland, OH), which is a new show. We have always had this art festival in June, and because of the success we are adding another one in September (25th & 26th)! Next, we have our 2nd Annual Inner Harbor Art Festival (Baltimore, MD.), which has a different date than the one we produced in 2009. This year, it will be held on October 9th & 10th. Then, in the beginning of 2011, we have added the Demonstrating Masters Art Fair at the 24th Annual Boca Fest on January 8th & 9th. There will be a designated area for artists and fine crafters to demonstrate and create their artwork. Of course, not every artist has to demonstrate. This is something new we are offering this year. What a great way to interact with your clients!

Now, I would like to share with you a couple of wonderful artists who are part of our big family:

Jennifer O'Cualain

This is Jennifer O’Cualain, who is a very gifted painter that participated in our shows this summer. This picture was taken at the 2nd Annual Downtown Frisco Art Fair on July Fourth Weekend in Frisco, Colorado.

Karen & Jim McCollum

Here we have Karen & Jim McCollum, who also joined us this summer. We were lucky to have them in the 19th Annual Chicago Tribune North Michigan Avenue Art Festival in July. This pair travels the world taking marvelous pictures. In the bio of their web page, they said they like to capture the intimate details. If you would like to see more of their artwork and read more about Karen & Jim, click HERE.

Robert & Robin Fremon

Last (but not least!) we have Robert & Robin Fremon who joined us at Art in the Village in Cleveland, Ohio earlier this summer in June. This husband and wife team creates gorgeous jewelry. Their biggest satisfaction from their work comes from knowing that someone will appreciate and cherish their jewelry when they purchase it. If you would like to read more about this duo, click HERE.

Once again, THANK YOU to ALL of our artists who participate in our art and craft festivals all year long!

Our second artist that I would like to introduce to you is…

Julie Keaten-Reed: Printmaking/Drawing

Julie Keaten-Reed! She considers her artwork unconventional because it is a hybrid of Western and Asian traditions. Here is a quote from Julie’s artist statement on her web page: “The conflicting impulses of following the Asian art aesthetic which I admire so much and the desire to explore themes from my Western art heritage led to the blend of styles and techniques I use today.” Her artwork will definitely add uniqueness to Shadyside. We Have A Weekend Off!

Standard

There must be something wrong with our calendar! Could there have been a mix-up? It is a rare occasion when we do not have an art or craft festival happening on a weekend. Our next art festival is not until August 28th & 29th, and it is the 13th Annual Shadyside: The Art Festival on Walnut Street. With this blog, I would like to share with you some of the artists that will be participating in this fantastic art festival. We want to get you as excited as we are! Next week, I will continue to give you more information and include several more artists that will be attending.

Our first artist is…

Artist: Kana Handel

Kana Handel! She will be joining us at Shadyside, and we are very excited. Kana is originially from Tokyo, Japan. She studied art at the Musashino Art University in Tokyo. Then, Kana moved to the United States in 1992, and now she resides in Gainesville, Florida. One of my favorite quotes from her web page is: “Because there are already too many negative things in the world, being the artist that I am, I want to create positive energy in my work”. You can see more of her artwork and read her bio HERE.

Artist: Pat Little

The second artist I would like to share with you is Pat Little. Pat Little creates digital images that are spectacular. The colors are simply incredible! This image above was created from 2000+ image combinations. If you would like to see more of Pat’s artwork, click HERE.

Artist: Barbara Nelson

Next, we have Barbara Nelson! Barbara has always loved jewelry, and she feels fortunate to be able to work with silver and gold. All of her pieces are very unique. Anyone would be lucky to own one! Barbara has a fantastic web site where  you can learn more about her artwork HERE.

Artist: David Royce

Our fourth and final artist that I am going to share with you today is David Royce. David creates unique pieces from glass blowing. You can see from the picture above that he is very talented. This is something he has had a passion for since he was 15 years old! If you would like to see more of David Royce’s beautiful creations, click HERE.

I hope this created even more excitement for our 13th Annual Shadyside… The Art Festival on Walnut Street that is going to be held next weekend! We will continue to supply you with more details as we get closer to the art festival.

More Participating Artists in Redstone Art Fair

Standard

As you may know, this weekend is the Redstone Art Fair in Park City, UT. (August 14th & 15th). Earlier, I shared with you some of the local artists who have been interviewed all week long about their artwork and their expected attendance at the Redstone Art Fair. Now, I would like to share with you four additional artists who will be at the art festival this weekend. Our first artist is…

John Gibb - Pencil

John Gibb! John is an award-winning pencil artist from England. He travels all over the United States to different art festivals and has won “best in show” numerous times. We are very excited to have this artist join us this weekend in Park City! If you would like to see John’s gallery and learn more about him, you can visit his website HERE.

Judy & David Hedblom - Copper

Judy and David Hedblom are very talented artists who will also be accompanying us at Redstone this weekend. This particular piece in the picture above is made entirely out of copper. After reading more about this artistic couple, I found out they create these colorations from “heat & buffing techniques, which create deep, flowing designs often described as holographic and 3 dimensional”. You can see that their heart and soul goes into making each piece of artwork! If you would like to see more of Judy and David’s masterpieces, you can take a look at their website HERE.

Logan Louis - Jewelry

Logan Louis is from Greenville, North Carolina, so he is traveling a long way to Utah! Logan creates fascinating jewelry. He describes what he makes as “pierced silver hollow forms with semi-precious stones which are made using traditional fabrication techniques”. If you look in the picture above, you can see all the intricate detail that goes into making a single piece of jewelry. It really is incredible!

David Nelson - Sculpture

Our fourth and final artist that I am going to feature in this blog is David Nelson. David is a Colorado sculptor who specializes in realistic life size and monumental bronze sculptures. He has been an artist for 24 years. We are anxiously awaiting what he will bring to the Redstone Art Fair this weekend. If you would like to see more of David Nelson’s sculptures, you can click HERE to see his website.
