Center Stage: Anne Andersson

Standard

This weekend, we are proud to have such a unique and different artist in the 17th Annual St. Pete Beach Corey Area Art & Craft Fair. Anne Andersson’s artwork is unlike anything we have ever seen before. Continue reading to find out a little more about this fantastic artist:

Anne Andersson was born in Gothenburg, Sweden with a great desire to explore nature and a passion for art. She has worked as a freelance artist, illustrator, designer and painter, and produced spectacular yacht themes for the Sunshine Classic boat parade in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She began creating wild animal sculptures in the early 1990’s.

Anne’s talents in painting, weaving and illustration combined with her intuitive knowledge and attention to the smallest detail truly bring her sculptures to life. Her work can be found in homes and galleries across the world. She has exhibited at Art Expo New York, Florida and California. Her works include a permanent exhibit at Busch Gardens, Tampa, Florida, the Fine Art Gallery at MGM Grand Hotel, and several of her White Bengal Tigers, commissioned by Siegfried and Roy on display at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas. (This is so phenomenal!)

Anne’s life-sized animal sculptures are handmade from Sisal fibers derived from the Agave plant, sculpted clay, and hand painted fired glass. Each stunningly lifelike piece reflects its own individual personality.

Here is some more information about Lou:

Lou DiVita, a wild life photographer, exclusively utilizes natural light when capturing his subjects; the composition, consisting of foreground, background, color and geometry is carefully chosen to complement and enhance the portrait.

Lou believes each photographic outing is an adventure. He watches and waits patiently, trying to capture that special moment, a moment that very few people will ever see, a unique photograph that creates a portrait depicting human-like behavior and their natural beauty.

Artist Spotlight: Don Plumridge

Standard

This weekend, we are very excited that Don Plumridge will be joining us at the 8th Annual St. Armands Circle Art Festival in Sarasota, Florida.

We would like to share with you a little about Don’s background! Continue reading below:

From an early age, Don Plumridge expressed artistic talents through professional photography, stage and set design, acting, sculpting, writing and of course, oil painting.   After several years of formal art and design education in Canada, his homeland, he has spent his life in the creative world.

Following ten years in the television industry, Don founded and was CEO of his own advertising agency and graphic design studio in the metro Washington, DC area.   Functioning as its creative head, he wrote, produced and directed countless radio and television commercials worthy of two CLIO awards. As an art director, he created several award-winning advertising print campaigns.

Oil painting has always been his singular passion and personal creative focus. From his own photography and professional eye for composition and color harmonies, he creates canvases of surprising varied images. Although subjects currently favor water, boats and nautical landscapes, the artist varies technique, coloring and brush-work to accommodate the mood and pictorial impact.

Plumridge has yet to settle on one predictable subject theme or ‘style’ and doubts he ever will. Mostly self-taught yet guided by prominent painters since youth, he thrives on experimentation and the rewards of discovery. His studio and home is in Wimauma, Florida.

"Buoys"

"Quiet Time"

"October Boat"

You can see more gorgeous oil  paintings like the ones pictured above if you come and visit Don at the 8th Annual St. Armands Circle Art Festival this weekend! We look forward to seeing you all there!
