Native Chicago Artist: Amy Huisinga

Howard Alan Events is proud to have Amy Huisinga exhibit in the 20th Anniversary Chicago Tribune North Michigan Avenue Art Festival this weekend (July 8-10, 2011).

Amy works primarily in acrylic painting because of its flexibility and rich color range. She enjoys painting with colors that are very intense and alive. In all of her paintings, she tries to give the viewer the feeling that they could walk right into the scene represented. In order to accomplish this sense of viewer involved, many of her paintings incorporate various painting surfaces, added textured and dimensions, and other mixed media techniques.

Amy usually tried to build up the objects in the foreground using these mediums and techniques to help the painting come alive. Because she paints realistically, viewers are often caught by surprise by the dimensionality of the paintings, and they enjoy becoming a part of the discovery process.
