Boca Fest Is Proud To Have Diana Ahrens

Standard

We would like to introduce to you Diana Ahrens! We are very excited to have her in the 24th Annual Boca Fest THIS WEEKEND (January 8th & 9th, 2011).

Here is a little background information about Diana:

“Diana Ahrens began her artistic career in 1979 painting aerial photography in Toledo, Ohio. Later, she apprenticed as a stain glass artist at Cristallo Glass Studio in Toledo. After her apprenticeship there, she studied with a 5th generation glass master from Germany.

She designed and built custom stain glass windows and other works both original and antique.

For fourteen years, she and her husband worked from their studio in Northern Nevada, attending art events in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon & Washington. In 2010, Diana and her husband relocated to Georgia where her studio is presently located.

Her work begins on a very light substrate that is hand formed and covered with layers of gesso to protect the higher layers from the acids in the base. The next layers are fine acrylics that provide the rich abstract backgrounds. Then, she delicately applies hand-rolled pastels. Diana will alternate layers of acrylic, pastel & metal leaf depending on the piece.”
