Local Indialantic Fine Crafter: Clinton & Arlene Underwood

Standard

This weekend, American Craft Endeavors is proud to have Clinton & Arlene Underwood in the 13th Annual Indialantic Craft Festival! Clinton & Arlene Underwood are local in the area! So, make sure you stop by and support the local artists!

Here is some information about this duo:

A native of Colfax, Iowa, Clinton has also lived in California and Colorado before settling in Indialantic, Florida, with his wife Arlene and two young daughters. With his passion for surfing and love for creative design came the creation of the Bombwatcher Surfboard Chair. Each surfboard style chair is hand crafted from Western Red Cedar with White Oak, hardwoo stringers and a White Oak Fin. The chairs are complimented by Bamboo drink holders which are designed to be staked into the sand or soil.

What started out as a two piece version of the chair became a labor of love to design one that would fold from the shape of a chair into the shape of a surfboard. It is with great excitement that Clinton is proud to introduce the world’s first FOLD TO FLAT Bombwatcher Surfboard Chairs. Clinton & Arlene’s company, Surf Life Designs, was recently founded in June of 2011.

Slides, Photos Or Digital?

Standard

Slides, photos, or digital (Zapplication)… which do you prefer? There are many events that only have one way of applying, which is through Zapplication.org. Lucky for you, Howard Alan Events allows you to apply using photos/slides (via snail mail) or Zapplication.

Many artists are not ready to make the switch into the digital world, which is why we have an option for everyone.

For those of you who haven’t started using Zapplication, yet, here are some great features:

(1) It’s relatively easy to set-up an account.

(2) Once an image is uploaded, it’s archived.

(3) You can check-out criteria for other shows.

(4) It allows you to find shows that you most likely never knew about before.

If you would like to set-up a Zapplication account, click HERE.

If you still like to apply using slides and/or pictures, you can find applications on our website HERE.

Attention Hyde Park Artists!

Standard

Attention Hyde Park Artists! First of all, we are excited to have you as an exhibitor in our 21st Annual Hyde Park Village Art Fair in Tampa, Florida on October 30th & 31st. We look forward to seeing you next weekend.

We wanted to write this blog to share with you (& any other Tampa area artists) a great advertising/marketing tool we found.

The online Tampa Tribune has a section where artists can post their name, contact information, type of artwork & where they will be exhibiting in the Tampa area. You can let all your present and future customers know that you will be attending the Hyde Park Village Art Fair. What a fabulous promoting tool! The best part about it is that it’s FREE!

Click HERE to post all your information in the artist database on Tampa Tribune’s online website.

Something We Can Never Say Enough!

Standard

What makes Howard Alan Events unique is that we truly care about our artists. We consider our artists family. Many of our artists have been with us since the very beginning. This is something we are very proud of! With that being said, we can never say thank you enough to each and every one of our artists who participate in all of our shows.

With summer coming to and end, we are looking forward to the end of 2010 and the beginning of 2011. We have so much excitement coming up! First, we have the Art in the Village Part II (Cleveland, OH), which is a new show. We have always had this art festival in June, and because of the success we are adding another one in September (25th & 26th)! Next, we have our 2nd Annual Inner Harbor Art Festival (Baltimore, MD.), which has a different date than the one we produced in 2009. This year, it will be held on October 9th & 10th. Then, in the beginning of 2011, we have added the Demonstrating Masters Art Fair at the 24th Annual Boca Fest on January 8th & 9th. There will be a designated area for artists and fine crafters to demonstrate and create their artwork. Of course, not every artist has to demonstrate. This is something new we are offering this year. What a great way to interact with your clients!

Now, I would like to share with you a couple of wonderful artists who are part of our big family:

Jennifer O'Cualain

This is Jennifer O’Cualain, who is a very gifted painter that participated in our shows this summer. This picture was taken at the 2nd Annual Downtown Frisco Art Fair on July Fourth Weekend in Frisco, Colorado.

Karen & Jim McCollum

Here we have Karen & Jim McCollum, who also joined us this summer. We were lucky to have them in the 19th Annual Chicago Tribune North Michigan Avenue Art Festival in July. This pair travels the world taking marvelous pictures. In the bio of their web page, they said they like to capture the intimate details. If you would like to see more of their artwork and read more about Karen & Jim, click HERE.

Robert & Robin Fremon

Last (but not least!) we have Robert & Robin Fremon who joined us at Art in the Village in Cleveland, Ohio earlier this summer in June. This husband and wife team creates gorgeous jewelry. Their biggest satisfaction from their work comes from knowing that someone will appreciate and cherish their jewelry when they purchase it. If you would like to read more about this duo, click HERE.

Once again, THANK YOU to ALL of our artists who participate in our art and craft festivals all year long!
