Local St. Pete Beach Artist: Annette Kapfer

Standard

American Craft Endeavors is proud to have Annette Kapfer, local St. Pete Beach artist, in the 8th Annual St. Pete Beach Corey Avenue Craft Festival this weekend.

Annette’s kiln fused dichoric glass artwork is creatively patch-worked, almost quilted, creating 3 dimensional views of natures art objects. This technique is very time consuming, but the results are easily appreciated when the group of stunning earrings and pendants are explored by jewelry collectors and all who love nature.

She grew up just outside of Oslo Norway, so you could imagine the complete delight and total jaw-dropping moment she experienced when she saw her first tropical fish, curious turtles, and other unique creatures found in abundance in the waters of her new adopted home in St. Pete Beach, Florida.

Already a a long time collector of glass objects, it was a natural transition for Annette to create her own aquariums in her studio using the ever amazing dichronic glass. The magical properties of this glass with it’s bright colors and intense reflective qualities are the perfect palette for capturing the spirit of the restless ocean and it’s communities of colorful sea creatures.
